The Oli Leigh Trust

The Oli Leigh Trust is a registered charity which raises funds to make grants to other organisations working in the field of suicide prevention among young people and improving the mental health and well-being of young people. The charity was established by Michelle Leigh following the suicide of her son Oli, aged 16.

How does your organisation contribute to preventing suicide and supporting those affected by it?

The Oli Leigh Trust makes grants to fund projects run by other organisations working to reduce suicide among young people and improve the mental health and well-being of young people.

We provide signposting information on our website for those in need of help.

We provide positive messages and support through our social media outlets.

We keep the focus on suicide prevention topical by holding regular events, in person or online.

We make talks to groups where invited to do so on lived experiences of dealing with suicide both before and after.

What are your current priorities?

To provide funds to organisations whose fundraising capabilities have been severely negatively impacted by Covid-19 and where we feel our grant can make a difference.

What challenges are you currently facing?

The inability to hold fundraising events planned for 2020 and 2021 has severely reduced our fundraising abilities. We are striving to keep the charity current and prominent through our activities on digital platforms.
