How does your organisation contribute to preventing suicide and supporting those affected by it?
Suicide awareness training is working toward delivering a number of proactive courses. We are developing on-line resources for members of the public focused on awareness, prevention and intervention skills. Suicide awareness training will play and active role across the Isle of Wight, working together with partners to reduce suicide numbers.
What are your current priorities?
Suicide Awareness Training will lead the charge on preventing suicide across the Isle of Wight, this will also be done by our strong links with the Search. Suicide Awareness Training will work hard and push for regulation of the internet when it comes to young people and others who are vulnerable to suicide.
What challenges are you currently facing?
We feel that unless suicide prevention is prioritised and properly resourced by Government and spoken about in the house of commons, suicide will remain as a leading cause of death in England and further a field. It is very clear to see that more resources must be invested into mental health support services and suicide prevention itself.
