Don’t Suffer In Silence

My mother tragically took her own life on 21st August 2016 after suffering years of depression. A month after this, my father passed away having suffered from mental health issues for pretty much all of my adult life. The heart breaking news of my mothers passing came as a major shock to my family and I as it wasn’t known to any of us that she was going through the nightmare of depression alone. Since my mother passed away, it has been brought to my attention that she was by no means the only person battling this illness alone and has inspired my campaign “Don’t suffer in silence”. My aim is to help other people going through depression and mental health by raising awareness and hopefully help prevent similar cases from materialising in the future.

How does your organisation contribute to preventing suicide and supporting those affected by it?

We offer support to people who have lost someone or who has depression or anxiety. If someone wants to know where to go for professional help we will give them the details. On our Facebook page people share their stories to let other people they are not alone.
