Leeds Suicide Bereavement Service specialises in individual and peer group support, including – advocacy, practical guidance, signposting and drop in sessions for those bereaved by suicide. Led by workers with personal experience of suicide our aim is to raise awareness of the impact of suicide on those left behind.

Suicide Crisis

Suicide Crisis run two centres in the Cheltenham/ Gloucestershire area:

Suicide Crisis Centre

Crisis services offering intensive support if you are at high risk of suicide, with continued support over the longer term on a less intensive basis.

Support if offered by a small team to build up trust, and provide continuity of care.

Trauma Centre

Support offered to anyone who has experienced recent or historic trauma. It serves Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas including Bristol, Birmingham and Oxford.

The trauma services at the centre are not just for people who are suicidal.

Helplines

Mind offers two confidential mental health information services, the Mind Infoline and the Legal advice service.

Infoline

Provides information on a range of topics including:

  • types of mental health problem
  • where to get help
  • medication and alternative treatments
  • advocacy.

Support Helpline & Email

Child Bereavement UK support families and educate professionals when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, or when a child is facing bereavement.

Their helpline provides confidential support, information and guidance to families and professionals. Professionally trained bereavement support workers are available to take calls 9am – 5pm Monday-Friday.

Winston’s Wish offer a range of face to face bereavement support services including individual and group work and support for the under 5’s.

Cruse Bereavement Care

Helpline

The Cruse National Helpline is staffed by trained bereavement support volunteers, who offer emotional support to anyone affected by a bereavement. Our volunteers are here to help you talk things through. They can also help you find your local Cruse service, or signpost you to support groups, financial advice, and other useful sources of information.

The Cruse Bereavement Care National Helpline is open for information, advice and emotional support, from 9.30am to 5pm Monday and Friday and 9.30am to 8pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The number is

Face-to-face support

Cruse offer face-to-face services via their Areas and Branches, and delivered by trained Bereavement Support Volunteers.

You can search for your nearest Cruse Area of Branch on their website. Each Cruse Area or Branch works within a specific catchment area and you will need to contact the Area to find out which geographical locations are covered by their services. Some Cruse services are able to visit clients in their homes or other local consulting rooms.
