Somerset Suicide Bereavement Support Service

Somerset Suicide Bereavement Support Service is part of MIND Taunton and West Somerset and is available to anyone bereaved by suicide in Somerset.  They run a 24hr helpline 0300 330 5463 and a monthly Suicide Bereavement peer support group, to contact the group call  (01823) 334906 or email Bereaved@MindTWS.org.uk.

Self-help groups

The Depression Alliance support a national network of self help groups across England. The groups are open to anyone affected by depression and they provide a safe and welcoming space for sharing friendship, support and ideas in living with depression. Most groups are facilitated by volunteers with personal experience of depression.

Well-being Networks

The Depression Alliance wellbeing networks are about fun and uplifting social activities to end the loneliness and isolation of depression. Whether you want to learn new skills, get back in to work, build your confidence or just meet new people, you’ll find friendly meet ups and groups led by members themselves to boost your mood and lift your spirits.

Well-being networks are funded by local Clinical Commissioning Groups and are based within local NHS IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) services.

Young Minds

The YoungMinds Parents’ Helpline offers free, confidential online and telephone support, including information and advice, to any adult worried about the emotional problems, behaviour or mental health of a child or young person up to the age of 25.

  • YoungMinds Parents’ Helpline open Monday to Friday 9.30am-4pm on (free for mobiles and landlines).

Helpline:

National, out-of-hours mental health helpline offering specialist emotional support and information to anyone affected by mental illness, including family, friends and carers. Open every day of the year from 6pm to 11pm.

Support Forum:

Nightline Association

Nightline is a student listening service which is open at night and run by students for students. Every night of term, student volunteers answer calls, emails, instant messages, texts and talk in person to their fellow university students about anything that’s troubling them.

Each individual Nightline is run by students for students at their university

Most Nightlines also offer information and some have supplies such as condoms, pregnancy tests and attack alarms.

There are currently 36 Nightlines covering over 90 universities and colleges in the UK and Ireland.
